By writing sticky notes together with the team, outline the objectives and goals of the following time period or sprint. Identify challenges, what needs to be achieved, and the desired outcomes. Take into consideration what has or hasn't worked well in the past.
Let the team read through the sticky notes and cluster similar thoughts. Prioritize the challenges based on their importance and impact on the overall sprint goals by voting on them with sticky dots. Identify the critical challenges that need to be completed first.
Repeat the process of writing, clustering, voting, and prioritizing, this time for solutions to the challenges. Review them together with your team.
Decide on the sprint duration. This is usually a short period, typically 1 to 4 weeks. The higher the degree of uncertainty in the execution of the tasks, the shorter should be the sprint. This counteracts compounding mistakes and increasing stress.
Ask participants to take ownership of tasks that excite them and match their skills. Ensure that there is a balance of workload among team members.
Hold the retrospective meeting to discuss what went well and what could be improved in the next sprint:
Hold regular standup meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and any adjustments needed to keep the sprint on track. This is optional but in some cases helpful when asynchronous discussions don't cover everything necessary.
